Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

We respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information Manhattan Construction collects through manhattanprojects.co.za, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Manhattan Construction Projects (Pty) Ltd, registration number 1990/005934/07 ("Manhattan Construction", "we", "us"). We are the responsible party for the personal information described here.

For any privacy question or request, contact our Information Officer using the details above.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and to quote on and deliver your project:

  • Contact and quote forms: name and surname, email, mobile number, project type, location or suburb, how you heard about us, and your message.
  • Phone, email and WhatsApp: your contact details and anything you choose to tell us about your project.
  • Site visits and quotes: property address, site details and photos, plans and your preferences.
  • Using the website: device and browser type, pages visited, approximate location and how you arrived at the site, collected through cookies and analytics (see section 4).

We do not ask for special personal information (such as health, religion or biometrics) through this website.

3. Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange consultations, show-cottage visits and site inspections.
  • To prepare quotes, plans and council submissions, and to build your project.
  • To keep records required by law and our building obligations (for example NHBRC).
  • To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
  • To show relevant adverts, where you have not opted out (see section 4).

We process your information because you asked us to (to take steps towards a contract), to perform our contract with you, to meet legal obligations, or for our legitimate interest in running and improving our business. Where consent is required, we ask for it and you can withdraw it at any time.

4. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Our website uses:

  • Webflow — hosts the website and processes form submissions.
  • Google Analytics — measures visits and how pages are used, in aggregate.
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel — measures the results of our Facebook and Instagram adverts and helps show our adverts to relevant people.
  • Mapbox — displays the map of our completed projects.
  • Google Fonts — loads the website's fonts.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and the website will still work. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

5. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only when needed:

  • Service providers who help us run the business (website hosting, email, analytics and advertising platforms), under agreements that require them to protect it.
  • Professionals involved in your project, such as architects, draughtspeople, engineers and suppliers, only as far as your project needs.
  • Authorities, such as your municipality for plan approval, the NHBRC, or where the law requires it.

Some providers (including Webflow, Google and Meta) store data outside South Africa. We only use providers bound by data protection laws or agreements that offer protection similar to POPIA.

6. How long we keep it and how we protect it

We keep enquiries that don't go ahead for up to 24 months, then delete them. For clients, we keep project records for as long as the law and our guarantees require, including at least the 5-year structural guarantee period, and then delete or anonymise them.

We protect your information with reasonable technical and organisational measures, including access limited to staff who need it, password-protected systems and secure (HTTPS) connections on this website. If we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask whether we hold your personal information and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct or delete it;
  • object to us using it, including for direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent you have given.

Contact our Information Officer (section 1) to make a request. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): www.inforegulator.org.za.

8. Marketing, children and changes

Marketing. We only send marketing messages if you are a client or have agreed to receive them, and every message lets you opt out.

Children. This website is not aimed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes. We may update this policy. The latest version will always be on this page.
